Did you know writers and illustrators have super powers? Yep, they can make readers laugh, cry, or hide under their covers just with words and pictures. This session will look at some of the secret tricks writers and illustrators use to make their audience feel a certain way.

We'll cover tools like tone, colour and symbolism. Students will leave with their own set of storytelling superpowers and understand the responsibility that it comes with.

  • Looking at examples of emotion in picture books
  • Unpacking tools authors and illustrators use to convey emotion
  • Trying out storytelling superpowers on a classmate
