General Questions
Making an enquiry, the booking process, and speaker availability.
- How do I make a booking?

You can enquire about a speaker by clicking the orange Request a Speaker button at the top of this site. Our full list of speakers is available in the Find Speakers tab.
- What is the booking process?

Once you have made an enquiry, you will receive a confirmation email. Our team of booking coordinators will get back to you as soon as we can to get a more full sense of the details of the booking and provide you a quote for the requested speaker. Including as much information as possible in your booking form makes this much easier on our end.
We will then check whether the speaker you requested is available for the engagement. If they are, we'll be in touch to lock in and confirm the booking. If they are not, we will offer suitable alternatives. We represent over 200 speakers and our team are experts at finding the perfect speaker for your event.
- What if the speaker I requested is unavailable?

There are many reasons a speaker may be unavailable, including personal commitments, writing deadlines, or already being booked out. If this happens for your requested speaker, our team will assist you to find the best alternative possible. As a boutique agency, our list of speakers is highly curated and of a high quality. We have no doubts that we can find an excellent speaker for your event.
- What if I want to book an interstate speaker?

You absolutely can! We do require that outside of our annual interstate tours (which you can view on our tours page), clients pay for the speaker's travel and accomodation. This can include the cost of flights, a per diem allowance, car hire, and accomodation in a hotel, motel or B&B.
- How do I become a speaker?

Our team keeps a keen eye on new releases, debuts, and events happening around Australia, as well as keeping in touch with publishers of children's and adult titles. We often reach out to authors and illustrators we are interested in signing, but you are of course welcome to reach out and pitch yourself.
You can contact us via our Contact page. Please provide as much detail as possible on your experience in delivering school visits, previous publications, and any references or testimonials you may have.
Please note, we are often very busy and our list is very full, so we may take some time to get back to you. Please be patient and know that we do take a detailed look at all applications we receive.

- My booking is confirmed: now what?

Congratulations on confirming your booking! You will have received an email from us which includes:
- Details of the booking, including start time, sessions, and the speaker's requirements for the day. Please read this closely and let us know as soon as possible if anything looks out of place.
- Our terms and conditions.
- An invoice for the booking fee, which covers our work in getting the booking locked in.
- An invoice for the engagement fee, which pays the speaker for their work.
You will also receive a reminder two weeks before the event and the speaker will be in touch to confirm any other details they need clarified before the event.
- When is the booking fee due?

The booking fee covers our work in securing your booking. It is not a deposit. The booking fee is due 7 days after we confirm your booking. The booking fee is non-refundable.
- When is the engagement fee due?

The engagement fee pays the speaker for their work. It is due 7 days after the engagement takes place.
- What if I need to cancel an engagement?

If you have to cancel a speaker, please let us know as soon as possible. We may be able to reschedule or arrange another speaker to attend instead.
Please note:
- For cancellations made within two weeks of the engagement, 50% of the engagement fee is still payable.
- For cancellations made within 48 hours of the engagement, the whole engagement fee is still payable.
