Resilience and Overcoming Adversity
by Ruth Clare
Description
Ruth was school captain of her primary school, in the top ten students all through high school and the first person in her family to go to university. But what no one knew was that all through school she had a secret home life, living with a violent father and an alcoholic mother. In year twelve when her mum moved 700 km away, she completed her final year of high school without any parents, cooking and cleaning and paying bills for herself, so no one found out. This is a talk about how to make it through tough times and have our own backs.
