Prehistoric Giants

by Danielle Clode

Description

Session description:

Step back to a time when giant goannas and marsupial lions stalked the Australian bush. Imagine herds of two-tonne diprotodons roaming the plains and flocks of flightless ducks bigger than emus. Using a mix of illustrated talk and hands on activities, zoologist and science writer Danielle Clode will explore:

• How do palaeontologists reconstruct extinct animals?
• Why did the megafauna get so big and why did they disappear?
• Just how big was big?
• How to write a book about it all (Prehistoric Giants)
