Graphic Novel Deep Dive
by Jake A Minton
Description
An in-depth look into creating a graphic novel, centred around the process of bringing Inked to life. Showing how the collaboration between author and illustrator is initially navigated, and then the slow, incremental steps that go into producing the art form.
Students will have a behind the scenes look into every stage of development from the first character sketches, and designs, to storyboarding, inking and colouring.
Older years will also learn about the use of over arching symbolism to help tie the narrative together in a more metaphorical sense. Underpinning the motifs and themes in the writing with visual elements to create a far more meaningful and coherent world.
The medium of graphic novels as a whole is also discussed, drawing parallels to film as a powerful story telling device.
