Community engagement

by Danielle Clode

Description

How can we engage with the community and get them to take on the messages we are trying to promote? How can we get them to listen? Community engagement can be one of the greatest challenges for organizations involved in leading and changing public opinion, attitude and behaviour. Drawing on experience from Victoria’s public land debate (As if for a thousand years) and bushfire education (A Future in Flames), Danielle draws on psychological and social research to understand how to make our campaigns effective – how to get people to listen and change.

Topics:
  • Behaviour change
  • Psychology of engagement
  • Community consultation
  • VEAC model of community consultation
