Writing Workshop
by Randa Abdel-Fattah, Adrian Beck, Andrew McDonald
Description
Adrian spends the first half of his workshop discussing his journey to become an author/illustrator. He shares his sources for inspiration and his approach to creativity and provides plenty of tips to help young writers improve their work.
The second half of his workshop features his idea generating activity, titled the Blurb-a-Tron 3000. Adrian explains the standard structure of a book blurb and gets the kids writing blurbs, section by section, to generate brand new story ideas. Students are often amazed at what they have created and leave the workshops with a well-developed plan for their next story.
Adrian finishes each workshop with a Q&A section that allows kids to ask for specific advice about their work.
