Weird and Wonderful Animals with Sami Bayly
by Sami Bayly
Description
These workshops involve a great mixture of education and entertainment. I love to turn complex scientific terms and theories into easily digestible information that will stick with them for life.
I aim to complete two drawing activities with the students (one if it’s just a 45 minute session), a quiz, and lots of fun facts.
Topics covered:
- Who is Sami and what does she do.
- An explanation of her books and some animal stories from them.
- Drawing activity - she will lead the students in creating a simple, yet detailed illustration of a mystery animal from one of her books.
- Quick quiz - usually focusing on collective nouns (easier option is chosen for the younger students).
- Second drawing activities are sometimes also done depending on the time left. In this, the students have to draw a mystery animal based only on her description.
(The content above will be slightly altered to suit the different ages I will be presenting to. For example, Kindergarten students will do simpler drawings and have less complex animal stories).
