Turning a Simple Idea into Real-World Impact

by Alex Dekker

Description

In 2020, I started cooking meals in my home kitchen to support frontline workers during the COVID-19 lockdown. What began as a small act of kindness turned into Alex Makes Meals, a movement that has since provided over 700,000 meals to vulnerable Australians.
In this engaging session, I share my journey from university student to social entrepreneur, offering insights into leadership, resilience, and the power of taking action. I discuss the real-world challenges of food insecurity, the importance of sustainable solutions, and how individuals—whether students, professionals, or business leaders—can make an impact.
This session is designed to inspire, challenge, and motivate audiences to think about how they can use their skills, resources, and creativity to drive meaningful change in their communities and industries.
