The reject pile
by Andrew Joyner
Description
Everytime I make a book, I do lots and lots of drawings which no one ever sees. In this session you get to see those drawings, as I explore the process of creating a picture book by focussing on the rejects - all of those drawings that didn’t make it into the final book.
I talk about the value of making mistakes as part of the creative process, and all of the things that I find hard about making a book. I talk about my Rule of Fun, and how it helps me finish a drawing. I demonstrate drawing with collage and the different ways it can be used to make a character.
