The Locked Room

by Adam Cece

Description

“The Breakfast Club, if it was set in an escape room.”

After an incredible start to his career (winning the prestigious Text Prize and getting published all over the world), he's back with an all new explosive 'unputdownable' YA book, The Locked Room. A departure from his usual funny books for middle grade readers, The Locked Room follows four teens who wake up in a locked room, with a clock above the door counting down from an hour.

In Adam’s presentation he will talk about what inspired him to become an author, how his “overnight” success was not overnight at all, and the genesis of an idea that led to writing The Locked Room. A book that happened almost by accident!

Adam will share many personal stories, and hopefully inspire students with his passion for reading and writing, and his story of perseverance. Even though he’s now writing nail-biting thrillers, there will still be plenty of humour and laughs.

Topics covered:
  • The books that inspired me (with a quiz).
  • Becoming an author/the importance of perseverance.
  • Getting published: slightly harder than climbing Mount Everest.
  • Where my ideas come from, and other impossible questions.
  • The Locked Room: my mission to write a book that is impossible to put down.
  • #BooksAreBack
  • Dioramas!
