Talking Maus/Talking Persepolis
by Bernard Caleo
Description
An illustrated talk (powerpoint plus live whiteboard drawing) which analyses either the graphic novel 'The Complete Maus' (Art Spiegelman, 1992) or 'Persepolis' (Marjane Satrapi, 2008). Both of these autobiographical graphic novels tell the story of the author's life and also illuminate crucial twentieth century history (the Holocaust, the Iranian Revolution). This session introduces ways to think about, and write about, graphic novels.
