SummerTime
by Antonia Pesenti
Description
Inspired by the picture book Summer Time (by Antonia Pesenti and Hilary Bell) this session talks about making a book about Summer.
We talk about our favourite summer things, as well as units of time – both real and poetic. We imagine summer in other countries and what is unique about an Australian summer.
There is an illustrated reading of the book, with students encouraged to spot the units of time.
The session finishes with a fun activity – a lucky dip of time prompts, with students brainstorming ideas for a drawing or verse OR a deliciously refreshing drawing session – inventing new and impossible ice cream flavours.
