Poems, not Riddles
by Anna Krien
Description
Poetry doesn’t have to be a riddle, or posed as a problem to be deciphered, or read like an inscrutable Latin proverb. It can be plain, straight shooting, powerful, at once familiar and strange, dark and funny, possibly political and personal. Best of all, poetry can be anyone’s form of expression and can be an important skill used in prose, playwriting, fiction and even reporting - but too often it is presented to students as old-fashioned, dense, obscure and tortuous.
This session on writing poetry will bring poems not only to life but to a life students will recognise and embrace.
