Pleased to meet you, Grades 3 and 4
by Elizabeth Honey
Description
Introduction to me and my books for this age group: 45 & 47 Stella Street Fiddle-back * Don’t Pat the Wombat! What do you think, Feezal? Honey Sandwich (poetry) Mongrel Doggerel* (poetry)
At this age the children’s growing skill at reading and writing, expanding vocabulary, love of wordplay and the ridiculous, outrageous sense of humour, drawing prowess and curiosity make them a delight. My role is to be a catalyst, to enthuse. I will suggest ideas the children can try in the classroom or at home.
Topics:
How I became a writer. A reading from a novel or poems from Honey Sandwich and Mongrel Doggerel. The development of picture book from idea to finished book or a brainstorm resulting in a poem based on one of my poems. A drawing.
