Parent Session: Raising Resilient Kids Through Awareness / Prevention of Grooming

by Sonia Orchard

Description

Optional Parent Session:

1-hour online or in-person
Strongly encouraged as an add on!

Sonia will share her personal experience from Groomed, discussing how, at 15, she was manipulated into an abusive relationship by an adult musician, which she initially believed was consensual. Sonia will encourage parents to reflect on their own early relationships, attachment to adults, and the impact of power imbalances between adults and children.

Parents will learn about:
  • The Neurobiology of Attachment: How a lack of strong adult attachment can leave children
    vulnerable to grooming.
  • The Village Concept: How creating a supportive network of trusted adults is vital to child
    development and protection.
  • Grooming Prevention: How to strengthen relationships with their children, detect grooming
behaviors, and ensure children feel supported by a strong, protective community.

By the end of the session, parents will understand the importance of cultivating safe, trusting relationships with their children and how to create a "village" that protects children from grooming and abuse.

Take action today and empower your Students and community! Don’t miss the opportunity to provide your students and community with the tools they need to recognise power imbalances, prevent abuse, and foster healthy relationships.

Empower your young people with the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves and those around them.
