Illustration Workshop

by Gus Gordon, Ben Wood

Description

There are a lot of steps involved in creating illustrations for a story. But where do you start? In this fun and interactive session Ben will share the process of drawing a story visually. He’ll share how he illustrated ‘Real Pigeons Fight Crime’, a hilarious new series in the same vein as Dav Pilkey’s Dogman and Aaron Blabey’s Bad Guys. A lot of fun in this one. (Similar to Creating a Visual Story session, but more intimate. Interactive and discussion based session.)

Topics covered:

  • Visual literacy
  • Problem solving with illustrations
  • Creating unique characters that help extend a story
  • Step-by-step process of a creating a book
  • Illustrations formats. Eg: picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, comics

This workshop leads into writing a story last. It isn’t intimidating to write or draw by the end of this session.
