Identity, Belonging & Difference

by Huda Hayek

Description

Who are you? Where do you come from? What makes you different? How do you define yourself?

These are all questions children and young people will encounter, and at times, grapple with.

As a young Lebanese, Muslim-Australian, I struggled with who I was. It took me until adulthood to embrace the parts in me that made me unique and special.

Through this workshop and the themes in Huda and Me, students will delve into who they are – and why it’s so important to embrace the pieces within themselves.

Students to explore, in the context of Huda and Me:

  • Confidence in you
  • Positive examples of difference
  • What makes where you come from so special
  • What’s your story?
  • The importance of humor
  • How difference is a means of originality and standing out
  • Personal stories of triumph
