How Short Is "Short"
by Tobias Madden
Description
How to make short stories shine.
In 2019, I edited published, and contributed to UNDERDOG: #LoveOzYA Short Stories, featuring the work of 12 Aussie YA fiction writers. The anthology is now included on many school curricula all over the country, and was used as a creative writing stimulus in the HSC English exam.
While working on UNDERDOG, I developed a new appreciation for the power of short stories, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to write them.
This session will help students understand the medium and how it differs from long-form writing, giving them the tools to craft compelling works of short fiction, whether for school or for fun!
