Hello Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2

Description
Introduction to me and my books for this age group: Princess Beatrice and the Rotten Robber The Cherry Dress * Not a Nibble! The Moon in the Man I’m Still Awake, Still!*
Picture books are an art form, a seamless relationship between story and picture to create a satisfying whole. The enjoyment of a good story leads to reading, and an appreciation of the illustrations, to an awareness of art. Children at this age are beginning to crack the code of our language and have an exuberant love of drawing and wordplay.
Topics:
How I became a writer. A reading of a picture book or fun with poems from The Moon in the Man with actions and echoes. The development of picture book from idea to finished book A drawing. I will suggest an idea the children can try in the classroom.
