"He Said/ She Said": Crafting Better Dialogue

by Steven Lochran

Description

One of the key components of writing is dialogue. On its most basic level, it gives us insight into a story’s characters and helps keep track of the plot. But more than that, it can be funny, it can be insightful, it can be moving. But it can also be stilted, tepid and unintentionally humorous. In this workshop, we explore the fine line between good dialogue and bad dialogue, before breaking out the pens and putting words in people’s mouths for ourselves.

Topics:
  • The importance of dialogue
  • What is good dialogue?
  • What is bad dialogue?
  • Tips to remember when writing dialogue
