General Secondary Author Talk

by Leanne Hall

Description

In this session I talk about how much I loved writing as a kid, but how it actually took me a while as an adult to be brave enough to try getting published.

I speak about my novel The Gaps, the real-life events that inspired the story, and how writing it gave me insights on what had been difficult about high school.

Topics Covered:

  • My morbid primary school stories – a slideshow
  • The lack of Asian representation when I was growing up, and how it impacted the stories I wrote
  • The Gaps – real life events and what I was like in high school
  • How writing and reading helps me self-reflect, express myself and understand the world
