From Page to Stage to Screen: Adapting Stories Across Mediums
by Fiona Harris
Description
Fiona Harris has spent over two decades moving fluidly between the worlds of books, theatre, and television. In this engaging session, she shares her experience adapting stories across various mediums, including transforming her adult fiction novel The Drop-off into a telemovie for Channel 9, and co-writing the Australian stage version of the Dolly Parton musical Here You Come Again. Fiona has brought beloved screen characters to life through her Trolls book series, adapted from the hit Dreamworks movies, as well as the Miraculous books, which are based on the popular TV show. She will share the challenges and creative shifts involved in turning a two-page article on Holocaust survivor Abram Goldberg into a full-length memoir, The Strength of Hope, and her journey researching and interviewing Sam Kerr for the junior fiction series Kicking Goals, based on Kerr’s real-life adventures.
