Filter verbs sneak into our writing often without us knowing, and though there's nothing wrong with them, when overused they create a distance between the reader and the story. Many writers, young and old, aren't aware of what a filter verb is and the impact they can have. In this workshop using examples, Kate shows students exactly how to recognise a filter verb and how to swap them out for more engaging writing.
