What does it take to write a good story? A crackling plot? Snappy dialogue? Fizzing imagery? And where do the best ideas come from? This is an engaging and interactive writing workshop, suitable for upper primary students. Through practical exercises, discussion and reflection, students will come away learning how to explore fresh ways of harvesting original ideas from memory and observation, and how to create compelling characters and exciting plots. Students will examine the importance of editing and redrafting; when and where to deploy a critical eye, and how to both give and receive feedback with courage and generosity.

Data Projector. School laptop. Will bring USB stick with PowerPoint. No sound, video or internet required. Two long tables for book displays/other materials. Paper, pens for participants. Comfortable space for students to write.
