Chinese History – A Short and Lively Introduction

Chinese history spans thousands of years. It has produced one of the world’s most vibrant civilisations and its patterns and lessons continue to inform what happens in China today. But Chinese history is fascinating on its own terms, full of colourful characters including talented women and genuine eccentrics as well as epic civil wars, brilliant emperors, astonishing corruption and would-be reformers.

I am happy to address any aspect of Chinese history, from its important lessons for the present, the role of art and culture, outstanding women of Chinese history… or simply an introduction to its great sweep, from the mythological origins of the universe to the current day.
