Character Creation – Crazy Creatures
by Cate James
Description
This is a very interactive session, with lots of looking at the work of everyone else and a bit of discussion.
To begin with, based on the old game of ‘Consequences’, we will create composite creatures in groups of 4 as an introduction to character design.
Each participant will then choose 6 parts of a body at random and design a character based on the descriptions given.
For longer sessions this can be extended to include a cartoon format story told over 8 panels, starring their new character.
Introduced by me:
* Quick intro into me and my work as an illustrator
* How does an illustrator begin designing a character (interactive)?
*Putting together unusual body parts
*Reflection on drawings/questions
