‘Because You Are With Me’ Collage People Workshop

Description
This workshop uses my book Because You Are With Me as the basis for a discussion about writing and illustrating picture books.
This is followed by a ‘hands on’ collage workshop where the children are shown how to use the tearing technique I have used in the book.
During the initial 15 minutes of mat time we will read the story and discuss the book, concentrating on the theme of body language and how it is used in illustration.
I then demonstrate how I create the illustrations for this book.
The children then move to tables where we create characters by tearing paper into shapes and gluing together.

Audience
Primary (Grades Prep – 3) Workshops are advised to be kept to a maximum of 30 students.

Requirements
* Display Table * White board and markers * Craft Paper in bright colours (please also include some flesh colours – white beige and brown). * The children will need one A4 size piece of coloured paper each as a background then small pieces to tear into the body shape. * Fine liner pens * Craft Glue
