Creating fun (and weird) characters and using them in a story is easy! This workshop with use the loveable cast of the Barkly Mansion junior fiction series to help students think about what they need to make their own character, and how they can use this character to begin a story. Get their creative brains working in a fun, interactive workshop, with a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Barkly Mansion, and some short, engaging writing exercises to kickstart students’ storytelling. Perfect for reluctant young writers, budding writers, and all dog-enthusiasts!

* Some important questions to ask your character!
* What do you need to put your character in a story.
* What is a plot, and what are the first steps in making one?
* How do writers come up with character and story ideas.

Requirements

* Data Projector to show images from my laptop (MacBook, but I will bring adaptors) or USB stick * Whiteboard * Students will need writing materials (pen/pencils) * Internet connection not required, no audio or video required.
