Autism and Friendship - Years 3 - 6

As an autistic person and mother of autistic children, Kate decided it was time children’s literature in Australia needed a shake up when it came to autism representation. Starting with her debut PAWS, she set out to put autistic kids (and sometimes adults) in positive, balanced storylines that don’t require the child to change who they are to be accepted or for readers to feel pity or inspired. Kate talks openly about her diagnosis and life and shows students and teachers how simple it is to make accommodations and be a good friend to their neurodivegent peers.

Topics Covered-
