A New Life

Join Sumaya on a visual journey through her past as a refugee child whose family made Australia home. From snatching up her neighbour’s baby chicken as a 5yr old because she wanted a pet, flying across the world to start fresh and the tumultuous journey through the school system without knowing the language. Throughout it all, there will be moments of joy, sadness, inspiration and lessons that students will be able to use in their day to day lives.

Sumaya shares her story using bright and expressive illustrations to paint a picture of her life and encourages students to own their story and share it on their terms.
