Footy lovers rejoice! The Outer Sanctum Podcast is crashing the pack and bringing a fresh perspective to the discourse surrounding Australian football. The weekly show acts as a platform for the passionate footy voices we don’t usually get to hear in the mainstream media.

The show is brought to you by six devoted football fans, drawn together by their love of the game, including author and Booked Outer Nicole Hayes, and poet and broadcaster Alicia Sometimes. Also making up the team is Emma Race, Kate Seear, Lucy Race and Felicity Race.

Recently the podcast made news when they broke the story concerning Eddie McGuire’s now infamous comments about journalist Caroline Wilson. In a recent episode, Caroline joins the team to discuss the fallout. You can listen to it here.

Past episodes have featured interviews from guests such as Sex Discrimination Commissioner and Carlton Board member Kate Jenkins, pioneering LGBTI advocate and ex-footballer Jason Ball, and footy journalist Sam Lane.

Earlier this year co-hosts Nicole Hayes and Alicia Sometimes edited the book From the Outer: Footy Like You’ve Never Heard It (Penguin), which brings together 30 personal stories about Aussie Rules from unexpected voices.

We think it’s pretty specky.
