Marion Roberts

Marion Roberts is a fiction writer with two novels published for young readers following the misguided adventures of eleven-year-old Sunny Hathaway. Marion also has a Masters in creative writing and enjoys teaching children to develop their writing skills by running workshops in schools.

What themes are recurring in your work?

My Sunny Hathaway novels are all about family in all its messed up and extended forms. Sunny comes from a ‘broken home’ but I didn’t want this to represent dysfunction. I wanted to write about a highly functional, loving yet separated family. Other themes include identity, belonging, truth and loss.

What have been the highlights of your career?

I think the highlight for any writer is getting their first book published. For me, this was only a couple of years ago so my career as a writer is very young. I am thrilled by the idea of having more and more books published, across a whole range of genres.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about having the courage to be who you are and do what you are called to do. I am also passionate about health, good food, art & design, my loved ones and practically all animals except reptiles.
