Anna Walker
Author, Illustrator
Anna Walker has illustrated and written delightful books for young children. Her books have won awards for their design and content and are published internationally.
Where were you born?
I was born in Sydney to a family who are passionate about the arts, with my mum being a librarian and dad a goldsmith. We moved to Melbourne soon after and I was brought up in the creative surrounds of Eltham.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about children creating their own stories, using words and pictures that express their individual view on life.
Anything else you’d like to share with us?
I have three chooks, a dog, a bunny, and three children. I love drawing, knitting animals and tap dancing!

Our Prep-Year 2 students had been eagerly anticipating Anna’s visit and were not disappointed. They hung on her every word as Anna explained and shared examples of how she created her books and stop motion animations. The students had lots of fun drawing with Anna who showed them how to draw birds using fruit shapes and her much loved characters Peggy and Mr Huff. Anna’s session was a perfect balance of sharing her storytelling craft and the students having an opportunity to draw with her.
