Anna Walker: Birds of a Feather

Session Info:

I talk to the children about being an illustrator and author and discuss the process of creating a children’s picture book showing early roughs and reading stories. I draw in front of the children and we talk about shapes and textures within illustrations. How shape and colour is used to create personality in a character. During this time, children will think about the fabulous bird they are about to create, and explore some shapes in pencil, by drawing on their paper. The children then create their own wonderful feathered friend by painting on calico. The artwork could eventually be made into a cushion/framed or pinned on wall.
