Remy is an author and illustrator. She enjoys doing draw-alongs in her sessions, and she particularly loves playing drawing games with the students.

Where were you born?

I was born in Indonesia, and I grew up in Singapore.

What other jobs have you had?

I worked briefly as a cashier, and then as a dog groomer.

What themes are recurring in your work?

Somehow, without meaning to, my stories end up being about characters who are outsiders or feel like they don’t fit in, and they go through journeys that help them understand who they are and their place in the world.

What have been the highlights of your career?

Presenting to over 2000 children For Sydney Writers’ Festival’s Primary School Days was a very special experience.

Winning the Prime Minister’s Literary Award was also exhilarating.

Where have your works been published?

I have books published in the US, and they have also been translated to many other languages including French, Italian, Spanish, and Korean.

What are you passionate about?

My dogs make me smile. One of my favorite activities is taking them to explore new places. I love cats, too, but sadly I currently do not have any.

Anything else you’d like to share with us?

Sometimes, I eat ice cream for breakfast.
