Chrissie is the author of over 35 books for Children and Young Adults, including 13 books in the best-selling Go Girl series, the much-loved Penelope Perfect series and the award-winning Whisper. Her work has been published in twelve countries. A new series Blabbermouth will hit bookshops and library shelves early 2020. She lives in Southbank, Melbourne with her youngest child and husband.
Most of my books have a strong emphasis on social and emotional intelligence. Kids love to have their worlds reflected back to them with humour and empathy. The ongoing success of the Go Girl and Penelope Perfect series is testament to this. I’m a teacher, which helps me to understand complex (and often hilarious) school yard politics.
My books have been published in the USA, Canada, UK, Korea, Turkey, Slovenia, Argentina, Brazil, the Czech Republic, New Zealand and more.
YES! I’m delighted to announce that my new series, Blabbermouth (Scholastic Australia) will hit the shelves in Feb 2019 along with an updated edition of my award-winning YA novel, Whisper. The trailer for Whisper can be seen below and I also write under Chrissie Keighery.
Chrissie is a warm and approachable presenter who was extremely flexible throughout the entire process of planning the workshops through to their delivery. She adjusted the delivery easily between the three separate workshops done at the College in order to connect with the students at their age level. We have quite a few aspiring authors and Chrissie was able to give them valuable advice about getting started in the world of publishing fiction. I would highly recommend Chrissie as a presenter in the field of creative writing
The workshop was incredible; it is aiding in keeping my writing vision alive. I learned to not give up on a character and to continue seeking inspiration for the direction of a plot. I’m very grateful for the time that she spent with us and the invaluable information we each received. Thank you!
It was really interesting to get an insight into the process of writing a novel and to improve my creative writing skills. I look forward to applying what I learned at the workshop and becoming a better writer because of it.
Chrissie helped me to understand how to create an interesting character that people can relate to and that isn’t stereotypical. She also taught me about dialogue and how to show the characters personality through dialogue. It was very fun and I would love to have her back.
Please do make Penelope Perfect into a TV series. But can you make sure it’s on free to air, because I don’t have Foxtel.
Thank you for the wonderful visit Chrissie. You have created a real buzz in the school.
