Anna Zobel is an illustrator and teacher from Melbourne, Australia. Anna believes that everyone can draw, and she is passionate about helping students to discover their own unique drawing style.
Nanny, gardener, and a waitress at Melbourne Aquarium – I spent most of my time extricating drunk patrons from the turtle enclosure and spilling entire trays of drinks down the entrance staircase. I didn’t work there very long.
All of my projects so far, published or otherwise, feature a bold, grubby girl with no regard for gender conventions. Also cake.
I got a rejection letter once that said “we love your work – we just don’t love it enough”. Hopefully I can top that soon.
I’ve met a lot of reluctant writers and illustrators in the classroom. I’m passionate about supporting students to uncover their own unique drawing style, and proving that artistic talent isn’t something you’re born with – it’s something you practice, which is half the fun anyway.
I’ve been told I bear a slight resemblance to Diane Keaton – she’s 46 years older than me but I’m flattered anyway.
I’ve written and illustrated a middle-grade book series, scheduled for release in 2021!
