Adam Cece is an award-winning author of children’s books, including the hilarious Huggabie Falls series, and an SA Premier’s Reading Challenge Ambassador. His mission, which he has chosen to accept, is to travel the country and inspire children to read and write, by sharing his journey, and his world of books and words, and delving into the process of writing and the structure of stories, and, most importantly, having lots of fun in the process.

I was born in Adelaide, South Australia. I still live in Adelaide, South Australia. I’ve been other places in between.
Shelf stacker at Woolworths. Service station attendant. Business Analyst. Professional coffee drinker. Although one of these jobs I wasn’t actually paid for.
Friendship. Teamwork. Embracing uniqueness. Fitting in. Being yourself. Respecting others. Appreciating what you have.
Definitely winning the Text Prize in 2017 for The Extremely Weird Thing That Happened in Huagabie Falls. My wife and I got flown to Melbourne for the awards party, and the winner announcement was just such a cool moment—and a real career changing moment.
My works have been published in Australia and New Zealand, but the Huggabie Falls series is also going to be published all over the world, including the US, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Portugal.
My family, my friends, living life to the fullest, never growing up, writing super fun adventures for children, coffee and dark chocolate—not necessarily in that order.
If you’ve ever seen a writer at a table in the corner of a coffee shop, that might have been me. Coffee shops are one of my favourite places to write. The noisier and more bustling the coffee shop, the more I seem to be able to shut it all out and escape into my story. I’ve also been on ABC TV, so you might have seen me there, but more likely the coffee shop thing.
I love being part of the fandom of big franchises, like Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Harry Potter. It’s so much fun. And I’ve always dreamed of having similar fandom for my books.
“Adam’s session was really GREAT and the kids loved it. It was interactive, there were prizes and he was the perfect amount of silly!
I’d also like to thank him for sharing his passion in a way our 7 and 8 year olds can relate to. This can be very challenging!
I also appreciated his patience. Even my students with special needs were able to ask questions and contribute to discussions. Thanks so much Adam!
