At last, a school play that even parents will enjoy!
Fiona Harris’ school plays are distinctly Australian in both their tone and their sense of humour. The language in the shows is written specifically for primary school kids, and there’s always a little sprinkling of humour aimed to tickle the grownups too. Most of Fiona’s plays, with a few exceptions, have an average running time of no longer than 70 minutes. with no interval. Click here to read some script excerpts.
You can either license one of Fiona’s existing plays (including The Great Chicko Roll Mystery of 1983!), or commission her to write a new work tailor-made for your school.
Some of Fiona’s plays also include opening and closing musical numbers written by Fiona’s husband and collaborator, Mike McLeish (Keating! The Musical, Beautiful, The Carole King Musical). These songs can be provided in two recorded versions: one with a guide vocal included for practice and learning purposes and one to be used as backing tracks in performances.
Fiona has had consistently glowing feedback from staff, parents and – most importantly – students. See testimonials below:
“I was blown away by the show Fiona wrote, directed and produced. The play was funny, optimistic and good natured. She wrote a speaking part for EVERY child who wanted one. She coaxed a performance out of the most reluctant performer. During the show I could see how excited and proud the kids were, and the parents left on an even greater high. I liked it so much I bought the DVD!”
– Judi McCrossin, TV writer/producer of shows including The Secret Life of Us, The Wrong Girl and The Time of Our Lives.
“I loved the Great Chiko Roll Mystery. It was funny, extremely entertaining and a great showcase of each of our ripper students. Fiona should be commended for writing such an amazing piece for the kids to perform in. Well done and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!”
– Kym Smith, Ripponlea Primary School Parent
