Josh Nelson: RANSOM and THE QUEEN

Session Info:

This presentation explores David Malouf’s ‘Ransom’ and Stephen Frears’ ‘The Queen’, preparing students for their Year 12 Reading and Comparing Texts assessment tasks and examination.

Familiarising students with the formal qualities and differences between cinematic and literary texts (e.g. cinematography, mise en scene, editing, music and sound, prose style, perspective, metaphor and structure etc.) I focus on the ways both authors use these elements to generate meaning within their respective texts across a range of key themes, issues and ideas.

Additionally, the presentation will assist students in the application of appropriate terminology for the comparative analysis, providing useful advice on writing strategies when approaching their assessment tasks.

Please note: this presentation can be tailored to the specific needs of the students or staff.
