Tony Palmer: What are you going to write about?

Session Info:

If we learn to write well we can shape who we are. But often it’s hard to get our heads around what it is we really want to say.

I’d always thought I’d come from a pretty ordinary family and a pretty ordinary life. But then I started asking questions about my background and it changed me forever. This talk is designed to help a young person figure out what it is about themselves and their lives that is worth writing about – especially in respect to war experience and war writing.

Topics:

  • The world of ideas: family, love, war, hope.
  • What’s important to you?
  • How do we develop our ideas?
  • Writing exercises
