Daniel Witthaus: My Friend is Gay (LGBTI)

Session Info:

In this session, challenging homophobia educator, Daniel Witthaus, takes students through activities and discussions that have been refined during two decades of experience in how best to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) students and to challenge classroom homophobia.

The focus of these presentations is on how students can better understand the experience of same-sex attracted and gender questioning young people, and the role that they themselves can make in creating more inclusive and safer schools.

Daniel will draw upon the formally-evaluated, award-winning educational package, Pride & Prejudice and his first book, Beyond ‘That’s So Gay’.

All work is in plain, accessible language.

Topics:

  • Put themselves in the shoes of LGBTI people;
  • Learn more about key statistics on homophobia through a ‘Game Show’;
  • Hear about real LGBTI peoples’ lives;
