Paul is an author, investigative journalist, TV and broadcaster with the ABC.
I was born in Seymour, Victoria, while Dad was in the Army at Puckapunyal. We moved to Seaford, next to Frankston, when I was two.
I’ve only ever been a journalist, unless you count my doomed teenage stints as a KFC cook and construction site labourer.
As a journalist, reporting on clergy sex abuse and cover-ups. Writing Hell on the Way to Heaven with Chrissie Foster and making the documentary Undeniable (ABC) were life changing. Chrissie and her husband Anthony helped survivors find some peace and improved child safety.
I’ve written for Penguin Random House, Hardie Grant, Hachette, and Affirm Press.
My hobbies are watching my children play sport and coaching football and cricket. I’m also keen on coffee and friends and the local beach.
If you’ve seen me before, I was either wearing a suit jacket as The Sports Bloke on ABC News Breakfast or trackie dacks at Frankston library.
Paul Kennedy was excellent speaking at Carey today – I cannot recommend him more highly. Paul Kennedy had the whole of Senior School completely absorbed in his talk which delivered on so many important messages. Fantastic speaker!!!
Paul’s keynote address, to start the day, was just perfect! The Waterford students loved hearing his life story, especially the focus on challenges experienced by young men in adolescence. Paul’s message was clear and skilfully delivered at an age-appropriate level. It was heartfelt, it was challenging, and it was so engaging. For many it was the highlight of the day.
