Where were you born?

I was born in London, in the UK, but I live in Australia now. The weather is much better here, and the beaches and the sea are magical.

What other jobs jobs have you had?

I have been a teacher, a performer, a fruit picker, and I even worked in a fast-food restaurant.

What themes are recurring in your work?

Tackling injustice. Mystery. Embracing uniqueness.

Kindness and compassion. Friends, family and loyal pets.

What have been the highlights of your career?

Every time I have a book published is a highlight because it is hard to get books published and they take heaps of work. Winning awards has also been very special, especially winning the Davitt award for mystery and the Readings Prize.

Where have your works been published?

So far, my books have only been published in Australia

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about looking after our planet and treating others with respect and kindness. I think that is why my characters are often trying to make things right in their world. Being compassionate is important to me and so I like to write thoughtful characters.

Haven’t I seen you before?

I don’t think you will have seen me before. I have been a bit like a snail, and I am only now coming out of my shell.

Anything else you’d like to share with us?

You can learn a lot about a person from the animals they like, and I am a total dog and guinea pig fan. I love camping and exploring the beautiful world we live in. Every place has stories to tell, and we all have stories to share. I enjoy helping children and adults tell their stories.
