At first glance picture books look like a simple format but in truth they are just the opposite. In this session, Gus walks through the picture book process from the initial idea, sketchbook roughs, storyboarding, writing, editing through to publication. This is a very busy interactive session. Gus begins by speaking about his books and illustrating children’s books in general. He then conducts a drawing workshop using techniques and exercises to show students the various aspects of illustration simply and effectively.
