David McLean: Workplace Reflective Practice Through Creative Writing

Session Info:

Reflective practice is an important tool within each and every working environment (schools, businesses and corporations). People learn from by reviewing their own professional experiences and by sharing what they have learned. It is, in fact, one of the most important forms of professional development that goes beyond theories about functions and processes.

By consciously addressing the thoughts, experiences and emotions and our responses to these, a clearer picture of the working community’s welfare and individual emotional health can be established.

The insights garnered from the approaches in these workshops provide the foundation for management to measure the vigour of the corporation’s culture and identify needs while simultaneously allowing staff to identify and express how they feel.

Topics covered:

  • What is reflective practice?
  • How does writing serves as a tool for a true reflective practice?
  • What can we learn about the corporate culture through creative writing?
  • What can we learn about ourselves through creative writing?
  • How can reflective practice be fun?
