Emilie Zoey Baker: Word Hunting (Workshop)

Session Info:

This workshop starts by reading aloud a planned non-fiction text, students are asked to ‘buzz’ when they hear an interesting word, which is then added to the board.

Using the hunted words a demonstration poem is then created. Students then use the library to run and find their own non-fiction book and ‘hunt’ words of their own creating a new poem which is shared with the class.

Poems are performed and workshopped.

  • Identifying cliché and how to avoid it
  • How to edit your newly created work
