Kim Kane: The Shrieking Sisterhood

Session Info:

Kim looks at her most recent novel  ‘When the Lyrebird Calls’ and the history behind its creation. She covers the historical aspects of this time slip novel – Australia’s federation and the fight for suffrage which she first encountered through her study of Constitutional Law at university. Kim then goes on to look at timeslip novels themselves, why they are the perfect vehicle to learn about the past, and the pitfalls of committing to an historical novel.

A feisty, feminist and fun session most well suited to year 7s.
