Eleni Hale: Having nothing taught me everything

Session Info:

I’m one of the one percent of foster kids who made it to university and it taught me that it anyone can achieve anything.
You don’t need to be the smartest or the luckiest but you do need to be in charge of your decisions. Choices matter.

Topics covered

My teens were dicey. I moved constantly during those formative years and had little security or structure in my life. It was all about survival. I lived in fraught environments and experienced many dangerous situations.
At eighteen I returned to school, completing my year eleven and twelve. University followed.
I wrote a book about my time as a foster kid, Stone Girl.
